On October 2, more than 70 members and friends of the Wapakoneta Area Community Foundation gathered in the Wapakoneta Eagles Aerie 691 Banquet Room for the Foundation’s 34th Annual Meeting. Among other business, WACF Board Members Keith Horner and Philip Schlenker were elected to serve another term on the Board of Directors.
At the conclusion of the meeting, grants from the Foundation’s Community Fund were awarded. Recipients included Children’s Hometown Holiday–$8,000 for its annual Christmas events, St. Paul UCC Food Ministry–$5,000 for local food programs, Downtown Wapakoneta Partnership–$5,000 matching grant for its Downtown Façade Improvement Fund, Riverside Art Center–$4,000 matching grant for its Downtown Mural Project, WHS English Department–$3,000 for its GLTF Shakespeare Program, Roots & Shoots Garden Club–$2,500 for its Downtown Planters Project, Miracle Meal, Inc.–$2,000 for its community meal program, MAV Mentoring–$2,000 for its youth mentoring programs, Wapakoneta Community Development Center–$1,500 for its Heritage Room flooring project, Joint Township District Memorial Hospital Foundation—$1,500 for its Parkinsons Exercise Program.
Since creating its grants program in 2016, the Foundation has awarded nearly $350,000 in Community Fund Grants to thirty-five area organizations. Several of these organizations have received multiple project grants.
